That is why a Belgium company started testing a modern approach to the construction process and laying procedure of a railway track. Stabirail found out that the usage of slab tracks is more efficient for our transport system. But they tend to have a labor-intensive construction process. And that is when the company created ballastless tracks to allow then to work faster with lower maintenance costs.

When it comes to trains and train travel, there has been a lot of construction and engineering. For railway tracks, however, there goes a completely different story. Those have operated on the same system for many years. This means wooden sleepers which develop a lot of movement over time. This makes them not reliable for our current transport system. Stabirail developed a way to solve this, without having an intensive laying procedure for the railway track. With the usage of ballastless or slab tracks the rails do not move after they have been laid. Besides that, they are very low in maintenance which saves companies a lot of money. But that is not all. The advantages also include a longer lifespan of the tracks and an outstanding track geometry. The company even developed a way to make the construction process easier by mounting the railway track directly to the concrete.
